Budget Outside the gate Safari company

Simba sits at Kikorongo right on the park boundary, outside the line by its own description and two kilometres from the equator. That makes it the nearest cheap base to the Kasenyi plains, where the morning lion drives start, with no entry ticket on the nights you stay put. Ishasha is roughly three hours south on murram, so it works as a separate leg of a trip and never as a day trip.

What the park charges on top

The rate above buys you a bed. Queen Elizabeth National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.

Park entryCharged per 24 hours rather than per night.
$40per person, per day
VehicleA Ugandan-registered 4x4, the usual hire car, at UGX 30,000; a foreign-registered 4x4 pays $150.
$8per vehicle, per day

Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $264 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.

Entry is sold in 24-hour blocks that begin when you pass the gate, so a trip that starts at midday and ends at 16:00 two days later is charged as three days, not two.

Rates at Simba Safari Camp

From $11 per person, camping. Rack rates from the camp's own card, valid 1 June 2026 to 31 December 2027, in US dollars per person per night on bed and breakfast, VAT included. Superior room $70 high season and $53 low season sharing, $115 and $100 single, $58 and $50 for three. Standard room $58 and $50 sharing, $85 and $70 single, $50 and $42 for three. Family cottage for four $230 or $215 per unit. Camping with your own equipment $11 per person. Single meals $10, $15 and $20, and a transfer from the Kasese airstrip $100. Park entry and activity fees are excluded, and the camp says so. Low season runs 1 March to 31 May and 1 October to 30 November. The rate block in the page HTML still shows the 2023 card, so use the PDF.

What the rate covers is not confirmed. We do not know yet whether meals, drinks and activities are included, so read this as the bed only.

Every figure on this page is in US dollars.

Indicative 2026 rates, read in September 2026 from each property's own website, rate card or factsheet. Twenty-three of the forty-two publish a rack rate of their own. The other nineteen say on request, and no agent or tour operator figure has been used to fill a gap. Watch the basis, because it decides whether two numbers can be compared at all: some quote per person per night sharing, others per room, per tent or per cottage, and meals sit inside some rates and outside others. Park entry is extra almost everywhere at $40 per foreign non-resident adult per 24 hours, plus the vehicle, and the Kazinga Channel cruise is $30 on top.

Questions about Simba Safari Camp

Is Simba Safari Camp good for families?

Yes, with a stated minimum age. The camp's own site sets the minimum age for children at 3 years, and children aged 3 to 12 pay half the adult rate when sharing a room with one or two adults. There is also a dedicated family cottage for four, though its price differs between the camp's published rate card and its own website, so confirm the current figure before you book.

How much does it cost to stay at Simba Safari Camp?

Simba's rack rate, valid June 2026 to December 2027, runs from $70 a night in high season for a superior room sharing down to $53 in low season, plus $11 per person for camping with your own equipment. Low season runs March to May and October to November. Park entry and activity fees are excluded, and a transfer from the Kasese airstrip costs $100.

Can you self-drive to Simba Safari Camp?

Yes. The camp sits at Kikorongo right on the park boundary, two kilometres from the equator marker on a well-travelled junction, which makes it an easy self-drive stop. A transfer from the Kasese airstrip is also offered at $100 for anyone flying in instead. No further self-drive directions are published beyond its location at the junction.

Is Simba Safari Camp wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the camp states that its grounds are wheelchair accessible, which is unusual for this park. Beyond that general statement, no further detail is published about specific rooms, bathrooms or pathways, so ask the camp directly about your own access needs before booking.
