A drawing, because nobody has sent us a photograph of Tembo Safari Lodge yet. Send five and this page changes the same week.
Tembo trades at Katunguru by the Kazinga Channel bridge, close to the cruise jetty and about three hours short of Ishasha. Where it stands relative to the boundary is unresolved, and the larger problem is that the lodge has lost its own web presence, so booking means email or telephone. Anything you read on tembosafarilodge.com comes from a reseller that took over the expired domain and has no connection to the lodge.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Long-standing budget name at the Katunguru channel bridge
- Close to the cruise jetty and the Mweya turning
- A historically cheap bed on this stretch of channel
Cons
- No working website; the old lookalike domain belongs to a reseller
- No current rate published since 2025, archived figures only
- Booking only by phone or email, nothing confirmable online
- Boundary status against the park left unresolved by any owner source
What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. Queen Elizabeth National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.
- Park entryCharged per 24 hours rather than per night.
- $40per person, per day
- VehicleA Ugandan-registered 4x4, the usual hire car, at UGX 30,000; a foreign-registered 4x4 pays $150.
- $8per vehicle, per day
Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $264 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.
Entry is sold in 24-hour blocks that begin when you pass the gate, so a trip that starts at midday and ends at 16:00 two days later is charged as three days, not two.
The full fee schedule for Queen Elizabeth National ParkRates at Tembo Safari Lodge
On request. No current rate exists, because the lodge's real domain, tembosafaris.com, now shows only a maintenance page. Archived owner rates from 2025 listed $80 for a deluxe double or twin with a lake view on bed and breakfast and $60 single, and a card covering 2019 to 2023 listed $70 for a Tembo cottage, $50 for a double or twin and $45 for a standard single. Treat all of that as unverifiable. Note also that tembosafarilodge.com is no longer the lodge's domain: it was re-registered in October 2025 and now serves pages for the aggregator that buys up expired lodge domains, so nothing on it is an owner source.
What the rate covers is not confirmed. We do not know yet whether meals, drinks and activities are included, so read this as the bed only.
Every figure on this page is in US dollars.
Indicative 2026 rates, read in September 2026 from each property's own website, rate card or factsheet. Twenty-three of the forty-two publish a rack rate of their own. The other nineteen say on request, and no agent or tour operator figure has been used to fill a gap. Watch the basis, because it decides whether two numbers can be compared at all: some quote per person per night sharing, others per room, per tent or per cottage, and meals sit inside some rates and outside others. Park entry is extra almost everywhere at $40 per foreign non-resident adult per 24 hours, plus the vehicle, and the Kazinga Channel cruise is $30 on top.
Questions about Tembo Safari Lodge
Does Tembo Safari Lodge have a website?
No working one. The lodge's real domain, tembosafaris.com, shows only a maintenance page, and a similar domain, tembosafarilodge.com, was re-registered in October 2025 and now belongs to an aggregator with no connection to the lodge. Book by phone or by emailing info@tembosafaris.com, and treat anything on the old-looking domain as unreliable.
How much does Tembo Safari Lodge cost?
No current rate has been published by the owner since 2025. Archived pages from that year listed $80 for a deluxe double or twin with a lake view and $60 for a single, both on bed and breakfast, but that cannot be confirmed as still current, so ask for a written quote by email before you commit.
Is Tembo Safari Lodge good for families?
We found no child policy, capacity figure or family room published anywhere for Tembo Safari Lodge, so this cannot be answered from an owner source at all. Ask directly by email or phone what family options exist, and get the sleeping configuration confirmed in writing before you book.
Can you self-drive to Tembo Safari Lodge?
Likely yes in principle, since the lodge trades at Katunguru by the Kazinga Channel bridge on the main Kasese to Mbarara road, but with no working website there are no self-drive directions to quote. Confirm the exact turning by phone before you travel, and do not rely on tembosafarilodge.com, which now belongs to an unrelated reseller.
