Ishasha Wilderness Camp
Tented camp · Ishasha, on the Ntungwe River · Uganda Exclusive Camps & Lodges; the booking terms name G&C Tours Ltd as the contracting party
Ishasha Wilderness Camp lies inside the park in the Ishasha sector on the Ntungwe River, and it is the only address in this sector that can demonstrate it. Ishasha is where the lions lie in the fig trees, and it sits about 107 km of murram from Mweya inside a park with a 40 km/h limit, so the drive takes three hours rather than the two that most itineraries quote. Anyone booking here for the lions should plan Ishasha as its own leg, usually on the way to or from Bwindi.

What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. Queen Elizabeth National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.
- Park entryCharged per 24 hours rather than per night.
- $40per person, per day
- VehicleA Ugandan-registered 4x4, the usual hire car, at UGX 30,000; a foreign-registered 4x4 pays $150.
- $8per vehicle, per day
Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $264 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.
Entry is sold in 24-hour blocks that begin when you pass the gate, so a trip that starts at midday and ends at 16:00 two days later is charged as three days, not two.
The full fee schedule for Queen Elizabeth National ParkRates at Ishasha Wilderness Camp
From $350 per adult, low season. The camp calls this an indicative international rate for a shared double or twin. Included are full board with three courses a day, all hot drinks and bar snacks, house drinks, one massage per stay and laundry from two nights. Excluded are park entrance fees, road transfers, premium drinks, optional activities and a compulsory $10 per person per night levy for the Future Generations Trust. High season is January, February, July, August, September and December.
What the rate covers is not confirmed. We do not know yet whether meals, drinks and activities are included, so read this as the bed only.
Every figure on this page is in US dollars.
Indicative 2026 rates, read in September 2026 from each property's own website, rate card or factsheet. Twenty-three of the forty-two publish a rack rate of their own. The other nineteen say on request, and no agent or tour operator figure has been used to fill a gap. Watch the basis, because it decides whether two numbers can be compared at all: some quote per person per night sharing, others per room, per tent or per cottage, and meals sit inside some rates and outside others. Park entry is extra almost everywhere at $40 per foreign non-resident adult per 24 hours, plus the vehicle, and the Kazinga Channel cruise is $30 on top.
Questions about Ishasha Wilderness Camp
What does the rate at Ishasha Wilderness Camp include?
The published rate covers full board with three courses a day, all hot drinks and bar snacks, house drinks, one massage per stay and laundry from two nights. Excluded are park entrance fees, road transfers, premium drinks, optional activities and a compulsory $10 per person per night levy for the Future Generations Trust.
Can you self-drive to Ishasha Wilderness Camp?
Yes. The camp states two ways in: by road, a full day's drive from Entebbe or Kampala, or by air to the nearby Kihihi airstrip, about 45 minutes away by road from the camp. Both are presented as normal options, so self-drive guests are well catered for alongside those flying in.
Is Ishasha Wilderness Camp inside Queen Elizabeth National Park?
Yes, and it is the only camp in this sector that can demonstrate it stands inside the park. It sits on the Ntungwe River in the Ishasha sector, about 107 km of murram from Mweya inside a 40 km/h park speed limit, so allow three hours for the drive rather than the two that most itineraries print.
Is Ishasha Wilderness Camp good for families?
The camp's own rates page gives discounted rates for children aged 5 to 12 and lets up to two children under 5 per room stay free when sharing with adults. It does not publish a minimum age or a tent count, so email reservations@ugandaexclusivecamps.com about family tents before you book.
