Mweya Safari Lodge

Lodge · Mweya peninsula · Marasa Africa, part of the Madhvani Group

High-end Inside the park Safari company

Mweya stands on the peninsula in the core of the park, inside the boundary, so every night here carries park entry on top of the room rate. It is the hub the whole northern circuit works around, with the Kazinga Channel cruise leaving from the marina below and the Kasenyi plains within an early morning's reach. Ishasha and its tree-climbing lions are a different proposition, roughly 107 km of murram to the south inside a park with a 40 km/h limit, so allow three hours each way rather than the two that most itineraries print.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • Stands on the Mweya peninsula, genuinely inside the park boundary
  • The Kazinga Channel cruise jetty sits just below the lodge
  • 46 rooms across three grades, each with a channel view
  • Deluxe and superior rooms get air conditioning, not just fans
  • Kasenyi's lion plains are within an early morning's drive

Cons

  • No room rate published anywhere; ask reservations for a quote
  • Ishasha's tree-climbing lions are three hours away on murram
  • No minimum age found; inner site pages block automated checks
  • No self-drive directions on the site, only downloadable maps

What the park charges on top

The rate above buys you a bed. Queen Elizabeth National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.

Park entryCharged per 24 hours rather than per night.
$40per person, per day
VehicleA Ugandan-registered 4x4, the usual hire car, at UGX 30,000; a foreign-registered 4x4 pays $150.
$8per vehicle, per day

Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $264 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.

Entry is sold in 24-hour blocks that begin when you pass the gate, so a trip that starts at midday and ends at 16:00 two days later is charged as three days, not two.

Rates at Mweya Safari Lodge

On request. Neither the lodge's own site nor Marasa's publishes a room rate. There is a booking form and an email address and that is the whole of it, so a figure has to be asked for at reservations@marasa.net. This is company policy rather than a gap in the research.

What the rate covers is not confirmed. We do not know yet whether meals, drinks and activities are included, so read this as the bed only.

Every figure on this page is in US dollars.

Indicative 2026 rates, read in September 2026 from each property's own website, rate card or factsheet. Twenty-three of the forty-two publish a rack rate of their own. The other nineteen say on request, and no agent or tour operator figure has been used to fill a gap. Watch the basis, because it decides whether two numbers can be compared at all: some quote per person per night sharing, others per room, per tent or per cottage, and meals sit inside some rates and outside others. Park entry is extra almost everywhere at $40 per foreign non-resident adult per 24 hours, plus the vehicle, and the Kazinga Channel cruise is $30 on top.

Questions about Mweya Safari Lodge

How much does it cost to stay at Mweya Safari Lodge?

Mweya Safari Lodge publishes no room rate on its own site or on Marasa's booking pages; price is on request only, which the lodge treats as company policy rather than a research gap. Email reservations@marasa.net or call +256 312 260260 for a current quote, and ask at the same time whether park entry is included.

Is Mweya Safari Lodge inside Queen Elizabeth National Park?

Yes. Mweya stands on the peninsula inside the park boundary, one of the few addresses here that places itself inside without hedging. That means park entry is payable on top of the room rate for every night of your stay. The Kazinga Channel cruise jetty and the park headquarters sit just below the lodge.

Is Mweya Safari Lodge good for families?

We found no child policy or minimum age on Mweya Safari Lodge's homepage, and its inner pages blocked automated checking, so ask when you enquire. It offers three room grades, classic, deluxe and superior, but none is described on the lodge's own site as a family room, so a group of more than two should check the configuration before booking.

Can you self-drive to Mweya Safari Lodge?

The lodge's own site gives no self-drive directions, only downloadable area and property maps, so confirm the route with reservations before you set off. Mweya also has its own airstrip on the peninsula, so a fly-in transfer is an option alongside driving yourself in through the park's gates.
