Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge
Cultural centre with cottages and camping · Mohokya, four kilometres outside Kasese · Queen Elizabeth Cultural Centre, a community cultural centre with lodge rooms
A drawing, because nobody has sent us a photograph of Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge yet. Send five and this page changes the same week.
This one sits at Mohokya on the Mbarara road four kilometres outside Kasese, on the western edge well beyond the park. Many lists place it at Katunguru on the Kazinga Channel, which is wrong and adds the better part of an hour to any drive you plan around it. The Kikorongo junction and the Kasenyi plains are the nearest park ground, and the lodge's own site has gone, so contact runs by telephone through Kasese.
Pros and cons
Pros
- A cultural centre first, with cottages and camping attached
- A family cottage option existed on the last published rate card
- Village cultural activities, not just a bed, are the focus here
Cons
- The lodge's own website no longer exists
- Often wrongly listed at Katunguru, adding the better part of an hour
- No current rate; the last figures date from 2022
- No child policy or capacity total found
What the park charges on top
The rate above buys you a bed. Queen Elizabeth National Park charges its own entry fee for every day you are inside. Here is what that adds up to.
- Park entryCharged per 24 hours rather than per night.
- $40per person, per day
- VehicleA Ugandan-registered 4x4, the usual hire car, at UGX 30,000; a foreign-registered 4x4 pays $150.
- $8per vehicle, per day
Three nights means three days inside, so two adults sharing one vehicle pay $264 in park fees before anyone pays for a bed.
Entry is sold in 24-hour blocks that begin when you pass the gate, so a trip that starts at midday and ends at 16:00 two days later is charged as three days, not two.
The full fee schedule for Queen Elizabeth National ParkRates at Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge
On request. The lodge's own site no longer exists. Archived owner rates from 2022 read, per room on bed and breakfast in shillings: standard single UGX 220,000, double deluxe UGX 280,000, twin cottage UGX 280,000 and family cottage UGX 400,000, with park fees and activities excluded. That is too old to publish as a current rate. The domain queenelizabethsafarilodge.com no longer resolves and shows a parked advertising page, so it is not linked here.
What the rate covers is not confirmed. We do not know yet whether meals, drinks and activities are included, so read this as the bed only.
Every figure on this page is in US dollars.
Indicative 2026 rates, read in September 2026 from each property's own website, rate card or factsheet. Twenty-three of the forty-two publish a rack rate of their own. The other nineteen say on request, and no agent or tour operator figure has been used to fill a gap. Watch the basis, because it decides whether two numbers can be compared at all: some quote per person per night sharing, others per room, per tent or per cottage, and meals sit inside some rates and outside others. Park entry is extra almost everywhere at $40 per foreign non-resident adult per 24 hours, plus the vehicle, and the Kazinga Channel cruise is $30 on top.
Questions about Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge
Where is Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge actually located?
At Mohokya on the Mbarara road, four kilometres outside Kasese, on the western edge well beyond the park. Many lists wrongly place it at Katunguru on the Kazinga Channel, which adds the better part of an hour to any drive planned around it. The Kikorongo junction and the Kasenyi plains are the nearest park ground from here.
How much does Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge cost?
No current rate is published, since the lodge's own website has gone. Archived rates from 2022 read UGX 220,000 for a standard single, UGX 280,000 for a double deluxe or twin cottage, and UGX 400,000 for a family cottage, all on bed and breakfast with park fees and activities excluded. Treat those as historic figures only, and ask locally in Kasese for a current price.
Is Queen Elizabeth Safari Lodge good for families?
A family cottage existed on the last published rate card, from 2022, but nothing current confirms it or its price. We found no child policy or minimum age ever published, so this cannot be confirmed from an owner source; ask locally through Kasese contacts before planning a family stay.
